Check this “try before you buy” menu at new wine bar and shop California Grapes in Sanlitun Soho. Customers have two dozen options by the glass (see above) at four price points — “El Barrio” at rmb20, “The House” at rmb35, “The Winery” at rmb45 and “The Estate” at rmb65.
If you buy a glass and like the wine enough to buy a bottle? You get a discount equal to the price of that glass. Bottles start at ~rmb65.
California Grapes has about 300 wines in its portfolio, says Frank Yglesias, and the wine by the glass options will regularly rotate. You can find the shop on the B1 level — if you enter Sanlitun South from the north, take the outdoor elevators to B1 and then the first alley on the right.

If you stand on the north side of Sanlitun Soho and take the outdoor escalators to B1, you will find California Grapes on the right side, down the first alley, near “Rice and Beef” restaurant.
