Wine writers in China: Hugh Johnson coming to Beijing

Posted on | February 21, 2011 | No Comments

Wine importer and distributor ASC is slated to host a dinner in Beijing with writer Hugh Johnson on March 16. Johnson has been writing about wine for five decades–his works include his annual Pocket Wine Book, the autobiography A Life Uncorked, and The World Atlas of Wine (co-authored with Jancis Robinson). And Decanter magazine named him wine person of the year for 1995.

The dinner will be held at the Grand Hyatt. A seat costs RMB999.

Beijing is seeing an increasing number of visits by the world’s best-known wine writers, with James Halliday, Jeremy Oliver, Stephen Spurrier, and Robinson among those who have stopped by during the past year. ASC also hosted the first visit by Robert Parker to Beijing, in 2008 (see Beijing Bob: The Robert Parker Dinner on the Great Wall).
